Introductions
Daniel Greig Babb
My name is Daniel Greig Babb, and I travel throughout Dallas-Fort Worth to investigate interesting and macabre moments in our collective history and have some fun along the way. As a fifth-generation Texan who grew up in Dallas, I bring a deep personal connection to my work. (For reference, my middle name is pronounced "Greg," which is derived from a Scottish surname; however, that is a subject for another discussion).
I dive into history, conduct forensic research, and tell stories of notable people, whether famous or infamous.
My interest in history was first stirred by the Marsh Family Cemetery that passed twice a day while walking to and from my elementary school. I often stopped and marveled at the old headstones and daydreamed about what their lives were like.
During high school, I completed a special report for extra credit on the history of Dallas and Farmers Branch. While conducting my research, I discovered a book by Ian McDonald and the Dallas Historical Society that profoundly engaged me. This podcast shares its name with that book, which continues to be a source of inspiration for me. The name immediately came to mind when I decided to embark on this project.
I’m a rabid genealogist and passionate historic preservationist.
My influencers are the amazing Dallas Historian A. C. Greene, his son Eliot Greene; Josh Gates of Expedition Unknown, Henry Louis Gates, Jr (no relation) of Finding Your Roots and all the genealogists and historical preservationists that pull together Who do you think you are?

What’s up with paid subscriptions?
Paid subscribers make Dallas Rediscovered possible—they’re the reason I can do research, write essays, and share them with everybody.
If you’re a paid subscriber: Thank you!
Every subscription counts, and each one pushes me further. Here is, in order, the things that paid subscribers allow me to do:
Fund original research.
Bring the dead back to life. They say that the 2nd death is when no one remembers your name. That death is far crueler as you are erased from history. My work helps keep that death at bay.
Devote 100% of my time to Dallas Rediscovered and similar projects.
